On 20 March 2013, BIO Deutschland attended the meeting of the National Associations Council (NAC) and the Healthcare Council (HC) in Brussels. Peter Heinrich represented the association at the board meeting.

Meeting of the Working Group on Diagnostics

The 13^th meeting of the Working Group on Diagnostics was held in Berlin on 8 March 2013. The agenda included discussion on the European Commission’s proposal for a regulation on in vitro diagnostic medical devices and on the individual health services that German doctors and psychotherapists can offer their patients with statutory health insurance on a private-patient basis.

CFO Meeting: Biotech Finance Experts Discuss the Conditions for Innovative Small and Medium-sized Enterprises

Around 80 finance experts from the biotech scene recently discussed the current financing situation for innovations in Germany at the seventh biotech finance meeting, which was organised by BIO Deutschland and took place in Berlin. Finance was up by over 50 per cent in 2012 compared with the previous year, from some €142 million in 2011 to €300 million in 2012.

Biotechnology sector now more optimistic

German biotechnology companies are looking more optimistically to the future once again. This was shown in a survey conducted by the Biotechnology Industry Organisation of Germany, BIO Deutschland, in cooperation with the sector journal, |transkript, the results of which were presented at a press conference in Berlin today.

BIO Deutschland Representatives Meet Staff from the Federal Ministry of Justice

At the end of last year, BIO Deutschland sent a letter to the Justice Ministry with the aim of making clear the disadvantages facing biotechnological patent registrations as a result of the decisions by the Administrative Council of the European Patent Office to change the registration fees and deadlines for divisional registrations.
