Biotech CFO Summit celebrates its 10th anniversary

Swift and resolute action vital – life science finance experts prepare for the future

Some 80 finance experts from the German biotech sector met for the tenth time on 3 March to discuss current trends in financing for companies in this innovative sector. The anniversary event, hosted by long-time sponsor Deutsche Bank and organized by BIO Deutschland’s Working Group on Finance and Taxation, featured talks by CEOs and CFOs who have been active in the biotech sector since its birth. The theme of the CFO Summit focused on achievements in biotechnology over the last 20 years. The experts agreed that the German biotech sector has brought key innovations to the markets, but noted that it was often not apparent that these advances were “made in Germany”. They also identified the willingness to embrace change, swift action and the courage to cut less promising programmes in a timely manner as critical factors for companies’ continued success.
