Europe: National Associations Council and EuropaBio Heathcare Council and Board Meeting

On 20 March 2013, BIO Deutschland attended the meeting of the National Associations Council (NAC) and the Healthcare Council (HC) in Brussels. Peter Heinrich represented the association at the board meeting.

Meeting of the Working Group on Diagnostics

The 13th meeting of the Working Group on Diagnostics was held in Berlin on 8 March 2013. The agenda included discussion on the European Commission’s proposal for a regulation on in vitro diagnostic medical devices and on the individual health services that German doctors and psychotherapists can offer their patients with statutory health insurance on a private-patient basis.

CFO Meeting: Biotech Finance Experts Discuss the Conditions for Innovative Small and Medium-sized Enterprises

Around 80 finance experts from the biotech scene recently discussed the current financing situation for innovations in Germany at the seventh biotech finance meeting, which was organised by BIO Deutschland and took place in Berlin. Finance was up by over 50 per cent in 2012 compared with the previous year, from some €142 million in 2011 to €300 million in 2012.

Working Group Meeting of the Health Made in Germany Export Initiative – Opportunities and Outlook on the Russian and Indian Markets

On 15 February 2013, members of the working groups on pharmaceuticals, medical technology, medical biotechnology and telemedicine of the Health Made in Germany Export Initiative met at the office of Germany Trade and Invest (GTaI) in Berlin to discuss the possibilities for expanding activities in Russia and India.

Press Release on the Report by the Commission of Experts for Research and Innovation

BIO Deutschland, the German sector association of the biotechnology industry, welcomes the report by the Commission of Experts for Research and Innovation that was published on 27 February 2013. The commission expressly points out that “public-sector procurement too often (falls back on) established or less innovative solutions”.

Press Release: Inauguration of BIO Deutschland’s New Office on 28 February 2013

At a reception on 28 February 2013 to mark the inauguration of its new office in the centre of Berlin, BIO Deutschland, the German sector association of the biotechnology industry, called on policymakers to provide greater support to innovative small and medium-sized enterprises.

BIO Deutschland Board Meeting

The meeting of the board of BIO Deutschland took place for the first time in the association’s new office in the centre of Berlin (Am Weidendamm 1a, 10117 Berlin) on 28 February 2013. This was also the first board meeting in 2013. BIO Deutschland moved to these new premises at the beginning of November 2012.
