The bioeconomy is of crucial importance for a sustainable, resource-efficient and environmentally friendly economy. It is an important building block for managing the transition to a sustainable circular economy and meeting society's needs in an environmentally friendly way.

The transformation of the status quo challenges us all. But where do we stand today? How are research findings being translated into practice? We would like to provide an answer to this question with the 5th Bioeconomy Congress in Baden-Württemberg.

As a special highlight, the contribution of the bioeconomy to the transformation of urban and industrial areas and as an innovation driver for rural areas will be discussed and categorized in a panel with high-ranking representatives from politics and business at the beginning of each day of the congress.
