Can we apply for the BioRegions Innovation Prize if no patent application has been submitted for our idea?

The Innovation Prize recognizes ideas in biotechnology and medical technology with a connection to biotechnology.

To apply, at least one patent application must have been submitted for the idea. Please do not submit ideas for which a patent application has not been filed.

For borderline cases (e.g., if an invention disclosure has been submitted but the actual patent application can only be filed a few days after the application deadline), please contact us in advance.

Can we apply for the BioRegions Innovation Prize if a company has already been founded to exploit our idea?

Founding a company does not disqualify you from applying for the BioRegions Innovation Prize. However, we can only consider start-ups that have not sold significant shares to private investors (e.g., venture capital or pharmaceuticals) and have not generated significant sales. For borderline cases, please explain the current status within your application. We will take this into account during the evaluation.

We have received funding for our project from EXIST, Go-Bio, or similar programs. Can we still apply for the BioRegions Innovation Prize?

Receiving funding from programs like EXIST, Go-Bio, or similar does not disqualify you from applying for the BioRegions Innovation Prize. Please provide details about the funding and its impact on your project within your application. We will consider this information during the evaluation.

Can we apply in English?

Yes, if you are more comfortable writing your application in English, please feel free to do so.
