General Assembly elects new BIO Deutschland Board
The sector association of the biotechnology industry, BIO Deutschland, elected a new board for 2012 and 2013 at its eighth ordinary general assembly, which took place ahead of the leading biotech trade fair, Biotechnica, in Hanover.

On 20 October, BIO Deutschland’s Working Group on Communication and Public Relations held its third webinar in the Sharing Knowledge series. The latest webinar dealt with the topic of social media, including Twitter, Facebook and Xing.
BIO Deutschland Calls for the Supply of Innovative Medicines to be Made Easier
The sector association of the biotechnology industry, BIO Deutschland, has called on politicians to remove obstacles to supplying innovative medicines to patients. There will be an opportunity to do so in the amendments to the Health Care Structure Act, which were discussed during a public hearing of the Bundestag’s Health Committee in October.
News from the BioRegions: Start of the Biotech>inside Initiative
The BioRegions Working Group is starting a new, Germany-wide series of events called Biotech>inside this autumn. 13 BioRegions are inviting political and media representatives to presentations in order to illustrate the importance of biotechnology for many sectors.
International activities: Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology support for participation in Analytica China
The great success of Analytica China 2010, which was attended by over 15,000 visitors, confirmed the event’s role as a meeting place for manufacturers from the Chinese analysis, diagnostics, laboratory technology and biotechnology sectors.
