BIO Deutschland takes part in Swiss Biotech Day 2019

The Swiss Biotech Day was held in Basel in early May, drawing more than 850 attendees from 25 countries. On invitation from Switzerland Global Enterprise, the official export promotion agency of the Swiss government, BIO Deutschland gave the introductory talk for the panel titled, “R&D Cooperation Forum with a Focus on Germany and Italy”.

Attend and present – European Business Development Conference for pharma and biotech to be held in Heidelberg

The European Business Development Conference (EBDC) is BIO Deutschland’s special networking event for decision makers from the pharma and biotech industries and from the investment sector. EBDC 2019 will take place at the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) in Heidelberg on 25 and 26 September.

Successful gathering of German biotech industry in Würzburg

The tenth edition of the German Biotech Days (DBT) was held in Würzburg from 9 to 10 April. The successful event drew some 770 participants to this Franconian city, situated on the Main River. In his opening address, Peter Heinrich, Chairman of the Board of BIO Deutschland, emphasised how important it is to discuss the achievements and potential of biotechnology with the various stakeholders.

Biotech Investors Day has successful debut in Würzburg

The day before the German Biotech Days got under way, Würzburg was host to the first investors day in Germany to focus exclusively on biotechnology. Nearly 140 participants attended the Biotech Investors Day (BID) at the Congress Centrum Würzburg.

BIO Deutschland and EY publish 2018 figures for the biotech sector

As in previous years, BIO Deutschland conducted a survey at the beginning of the year to gather data on companies operating in the biotechnology sector. The results were released, in cooperation with EY, as part of a press conference held on 8 April in Frankfurt.

No modification of the human germ line – BIO Deutschland releases updated guidelines for ethics and legislation

Biotechnology is undergoing rapid and far-reaching advances, not least because revolutionary techniques have opened up a whole new realm of possibilities. In order to take account of such significant changes and dynamic developments, the biotechnology industry association BIO Deutschland has released updated guidelines for ethics and legislation. The tools of biotechnology are not only scientifically spectacular; they also play a fundamental role economically.

Industry associations issue joint statement on the ECJ’s ruling on new breeding techniques

International Council of Biotech Associations (ICBA) holds telephone conference

ICBA members held a telephone conference in the run-up to the BIO International Convention in Philadelphia in June. In addition to admitting a new member, SwedenBIO, participants discussed the agenda for the next meeting, which will take place in Philadelphia on the day before the opening of the world’s largest biotech conference.
