A virtual roundtable with the German Chancellor

On the evening of 10 May, German Chancellor Angela Merkel hosted a virtual roundtable discussion on technological innovations in medicine. Under the motto “Game-changer technologies for Germany as a biotechnology location”, the Chancellor exchanged information and views with experts on topics such as the mRNA technology made famous by the COVID-19 vaccines, nanotechnology, and cell and gene therapy. Representatives of BIO Deutschland were also present at the roundtable meeting. In addition to the Chancellor, the Economics Affairs Minister Peter Altmaier, the head of the Federal Chancellery Helge Braun, Research Minister Anja Karliczek and Health Minister Jens Spahn also took part in the discussion.
