At the invitation of the Medizinisch-Naturwissenschaftliche Gesellschaft Wuppertal e.V. (MNG)
BIO Deutschland Managing Director Viola Bronsema gave a lecture as part of this year's lecture series "Biotech in Germany - Opportunities in the Crisis". On the topic of "Back in the spotlight: the German Biotech Industry", Bronsema presented the state of the industry and the mood among entrepreneurs, the political and business environment, and the positive future prospects for German biotech companies. The second part of the event featured Claudia Ulbrich and Thomas Thum, CEO and CSO/CMO, respectively, of Cardior Pharmaceuticals, in a co-presentation on the origins and science of their clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company, which is pioneering the discovery and development of RNA-based therapeutics for heart disease.
The Wuppertal Medical and Scientific Society was founded in late 1950. The leading professors of the Landesfrauenklinik Elberfeld, the Hautklinik Elberfeld, the Chirurgische Klinik Elberfeld and the Medizinische und Nervenklinik Barmen invited the other chief physicians of the municipal and other hospitals and the heads of the medical research laboratories of Bayer AG with the aim of founding a medical society and promoting the scientific work of the individual clinics. Initially, the organization of scientific meetings in the months of October to June of each fiscal year was established as the main task of the society. Opening the society to more than the originally envisaged 30 members resulted in an interdisciplinary scientific society with 82 members, whose main task is to organize lectures on topics related to the lecturer's own research. The president of the society is Hubert Trübel, in his main office CMO of AiCuris Anti-Infective Cures AG.
