BIO Deutschland Attends Sherpa Meeting on the Pharma Dialogue

BIO Deutschland is taking part in the Federal Government’s pharma dialogue, which was officially opened at an event on 15 September by Johanna Wanka, Federal Minister of Education and Research; Hermann Gröhe, Federal Minister of Health; and Uwe Beckmeyer, Parliamentary State Secretary at the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy. The process will include the opening and closing events, as well as at least three dialogue meetings with businesspeople, researchers, trade union representatives and the state secretaries of the ministries involved. Christian Schetter, CEO of Neovii Biotech, will represent the board of BIO Deutschland at the pharma dialogue. The dialogue meetings will be flanked by an interdisciplinary sherpa working group. The aim of the pharma dialogue is to address topics involving the pharmaceutical industry’s entire value-added chain, ranging from research and innovation to production, licensing and supply. BIO Deutschland will be able to contribute to the process in cooperation with its working groups, for example in areas such as the promotion of biopharmaceutical research and development, technology transfer, entrepreneurship, the financing of innovations, regulatory conditions, innovative therapies and personalised medicine. The closing event is scheduled to take place during the first quarter of 2016. BIO Deutschland is involved in preparations for the pharma dialogue. On 19 August, an association representative attended a sherpa meeting on further planning, at which the various topics to be discussed in the dialogue meetings were extended and structured.
