BIO Deutschland comments on the EFI’s 2016 report

Commission of Experts recommends tax support for R&D by SMEs

The Commission of Experts for Research and Innovation (EFI) has identified the role of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in research and innovation as a core topic. The EFI recommends introducing tax breaks for research and development (R&D) that focuses specifically on the requirements of SMEs. It also calls for improvements in conditions for venture capital as set out in the coalition agreement. The sector association of the biotechnology industry, BIO Deutschland, expressly supports these recommendations, which address the concerns that the association has been voicing for years, and which will help to strengthen Germany’s position as a location for innovation in the face of accelerating global competition.
