BIO Deutschland issues statement welcoming ministry draft for a National Bioeconomy Strategy

Press release

The sector association of the biotechnology industry, BIO Deutschland, has issued a statement welcoming the ministry draft for a National Bioeconomy Strategy that brings the German government’s bioeconomy policy together in an overall strategy. The draft shows that the further development of bioeconomy policy is a high priority in Germany. The National Bioeconomy Strategy will enable an even better interlinking of the German government’s actions in the bioeconomy policy domain, as well as a strengthening of the scientific foundations and a more concrete and consistent implementation of sustainability.

Peter Heinrich, Chairman of the Board of BIO Deutschland, said: “Pooling the strengths of Germany’s research and agriculture ministries in a joint overall bioeconomy strategy is the right step in terms of fostering the development of the German bioeconomy and paving the way for success. But it should still be ensured that the strategy also incorporates the activities of other ministries that address bioeconomy issues. Industry believes involving the German economic ministry would be important, especially when it comes to formulating specific policy goals and milestones, which are still missing in the submitted draft bioeconomy strategy.”
