The LABVOLUTION fair was held from the 16 to 18 May in Hanover. The only thing remaining of the fair’s original name BIOTECHNICA was the Biotechnica Forum. BIO Deutschland organised here – under the title “Laboratory digitisation provides the basis for big data analysis” – a two-hour programme featuring expert talks and panel discussions. The well-attended forum was moderated by Martin Pöhlchen, chairman of the Working Group on Bio IT and Big Data. The experts from Eppendorf, Thermo Fisher Scientific and bio.logis pointed out the benefits of digitisation and big data along the process chain, particularly those derived from networked laboratory equipment and from data platforms capable of collecting and analysing lab data and producing automated diagnostics reports.
