BIO Deutschland Wins INNOVATION AWARD for Association of the Year

BIO Deutschland has been honoured with the INNOVATION AWARD for Association of the Year by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Verbandsmanagement (DGVM – German Society for Association Management). The prize is awarded to associations that distinguish themselves by their outstanding performance and serve as a role model for other associations to explore new ground. BIO Deutschland applied for the reform and management category, and was successful in the final round. The award was presented to BIO Deutschland at a ceremony on the evening of 24 February 2014 during the 14th German Association Congress in Düsseldorf.

Commenting on the award, Peter Heinrich, Chairman of the Board of BIO Deutschland, said: “I would like to thank the jury of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Verbandsmanagement for awarding this prize to BIO Deutschland. We are extremely honoured by the decision to award the INNOVATION AWARD for Association of the Year to us.” Heinrich added that the award was a well-deserved recognition for BIO Deutschland’s constant commitment and hard work, and a good start to the year marking the tenth anniversary of the association’s foundation.

“We would like to thank our members, supporters and partner organisations. Together we have been able to establish BIO Deutschland as an independent organisation and as the largest national biotechnology sector association in Europe and to draw attention to important topics within a short space of time. Our colleagues in the Berlin office deserve special praise. We are proud of what has been achieved and we are very pleased that DGVM has now honoured our special success story with the INNOVATION AWARD,” said Viola Bronsema, Managing Director of BIO Deutschland.

The DGVM INNOVATION AWARD for Association of the Year was awarded for an outstanding performance in association management for the fourteenth time. Recent winners include the Association of German Foundations, HessenChemie (the Association of Chemical and Related Industry Employers for the State of Hesse) and VDI The Association of German Engineers.
