BIO Deutschland’s Board Holds a Strategy Meeting in Potsdam

The board of BIO Deutschland held a strategy meeting in Potsdam on 2 and 3 July 2012. The two-day session opened with a working dinner hosted by the association and attended by supporting members, sector partners and the presidents of affiliated associations. BIO Deutschland’s supporting members and board assessed the association’s strengths and weaknesses (SWOT analysis) and explored options for further development of the organisation. The participants also discussed current technology debates, particularly as regards green genetic engineering. In addition, they praised the board and office for having established a solid association that is focused on clear objectives, despite the diversity of its members’ business models, in less than ten years. This analysis served as the basis for discussions on strategy during the second day of the meeting. This focus of this year’s internal discussion and planning was on the board’s policy work, member groups and networks, and communication of BIO Deutschland’s topics to the public. In the coming weeks, the association office will draft suggestions to be implemented and present them for further discussion at the next board meeting, which will take place in Berlin on 9 October 2012.
