BIO Deutschland’s Board Holds its Second Ordinary Meeting and Strategy Session
On 26 May, the board of BIO Deutschland met in Berlin for its second ordinary board meeting of the year. The agenda included the approval of new members who joined BIO Deutschland since the last board meeting and discussion on the association’s current and future activities, including meetings with policymakers and planned events.
The board, which was elected in October 2013, then held a strategy meeting. The first item on the agenda was an analysis by the board of BIO Deutschland’s strengths and weaknesses (SWOT analysis) and discussion on the options for further developing and strengthening the association. The board members also explored the current debates on biotechnology. This analysis was then used as a basis for discussion on strategy. The focus of this year’s internal discussion and planning was on the association’s work in the political sphere, members’ platforms and networks, and communicating BIO Deutschland topics to the public. The board members also discussed how the positive financial basis could be further developed for other activities. BIO Deutschland’s board and office will use the results of the strategy meeting as a basis for drawing up a strategy for 2020, as well as a plan for implementing this strategy, with the chairpersons of the working groups, the supporting members and the sector partners by the end of the year.
