The EU Commission recently published a communication entitled “Building the future with nature: Boosting Biotechnology and Biomanufacturing in the EU”. The communication calls biotechnology and biomanufacturing among the most promising technological areas of this century and proposes a series of targeted actions to make Europe a leading biotechnology location. The biotechnology industry association BIO Deutschland strongly welcomes this paper. The analysis of the status quo and the actions identified through this assessment can help Europe to reap extensive benefits from the key technology of biotechnology and to become a global leader.
