Council for Technological Sovereignty holds its inaugural meeting
German Research Minister Anja Karliczek has launched the Council for Technological Sovereignty. The body, which includes representatives from science, business and society, is tasked in the coming months with developing recommendations for the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) on how to strengthen Germany’s and the European Union’s technological sovereignty in key areas of technology. Eleven experts from different fields gathered on 1 September for the kick-off meeting. Viola Bronsema, Managing Director of BIO Deutschland, represents biotechnology on the Council, which has been initially established for a period of two years.
