Digital exchange between various working groups with MEP Peter Liese
On May 21, the Bio-IT, Big Data, and E- Health, Health Policy and Diagnostics working groups held a joint digital exchange with Peter Liese (CDU), Member of the European Parliament. Anja Silbe and Anna Schöbel (BIO Deutschland) began by welcoming the guest and presenting the association's objectives and key areas of work. Anna Schöbel, Anja Silbe and Alexandar Trifunovic (Roche) then provided specific input on current health policy issues, the European Health Data Space (EHDS) and the in-vitro diagnostics and medical devices regulation (MDR). The contributions presented led to an intensive and constructive dialog with Peter Liese. Barbara Behrens (Sysmex) focused on the current status of new breeding techniques, while Niels Riedemann (InflaRx) used the example of clinical studies to highlight specific data protection challenges in Germany in the context of the EHDS. Martin Pöhlchen (Sinfonie LSM) and Oliver Vettel (Inhive Group) underlined the importance of standardizing health data and the requirements for practical implementation of the EHDS, particularly in connection with artificial intelligence.
