EuropaBio Board Meeting and Annual General Assembly Held in Brussels on 26 June

EuropaBio’s second board meeting and its annual general assembly took place in Brussels on 26 June 2013. Peter Heinrich attended these meetings in his capacity as a member of the board of BIO Deutschland and as a representative of the association.

The main topics discussed were:

  • Approval of the budgets for 2013 und 2014
  • Data transparency: this followed up on discussion from the last meeting, which had addressed the gross violation of confidential data of member companies by various authorities. The board discussed a position paper on data transparency drafted by the EuropaBio office which covers all areas of the biotech sector (clinical trials, IP, regulatory matters, innovation, etc.) This paper will be discussed with other organisations such as EFPIA, CEFIC, ECPA, FoodDrinkEurope, Business Europe and NGOs.
  • There was also a presentation on the Europe-wide activities for the Biotech Week, which will take place at the beginning of October to coincide with the 60th anniversary of the discovery of DNA.

At the annual general assembly, André Goig from Syngenta was appointed as chair of the association for a two-year term. He takes over from Stephan Tanda.
