First board meeting of 2020 held as a telephone conference

On 20 March, BIO Deutschland’s first board meeting of 2020 took place in the form of a conference call. The board members discussed the current events associated with the global spread of coronavirus, particularly events in Germany and Europe, and how they have been affecting the association. Many members are playing a major role in the research and development of tests and medicines. The measures enacted by the Federal Government have also had a hard impact on biotechnology companies, and the association is working to support its members as much as possible. The board also voted to admit new members and to cancel the German Biotech Days (DBT), which was scheduled to take place in Wiesbaden in late May. The cancellation of the DBT, according to board members, was a sad but necessary step. The programme had already been finalised and the exhibition was fully booked. The further development of the association’s strategy was carried forward to the next meeting.
