First life sciences start-up breakfast held in Berlin

Young biotech firms – life sciences start-ups – should have more opportunities to voice their interests and needs. BIO Deutschland has therefore teamed up with Berlin Partner to start a regular breakfast event for life sciences (LS) start-ups (SU). The plan is to offer this format in other relevant regions if it proves to be a success in Berlin. Some 20 representatives from young Berlin-based life sciences firms took part on 11 February in the first meeting, whose goal was to get to know one another as well as to jointly identify priority issues and discuss expectations for the networking event. Issues singled out by attendees as important included financing and investment, staff recruiting and the right way to pitch. Among the anticipated benefits cited were nurturing one’s network, sharing experiences with other start-ups and increased visibility. The new format was well received by the participating start-ups. The next LS-SU breakfast is scheduled for May.
