Forum 3 at the Biotechnology Days

BIO Deutschland was involved in the organisation of the forums at the German Biotechnology Days. This successor event to the Federal Ministry of Education and Research’s Biotechnology Days was held for the first time this year from 8 – 9 October 2007 in the Convention Centre of the Deutsche Messe in Hanover.

Representatives from trade, science and politics learned about the latest developments in the sector at three forums held on 8 October. Forum 3, which was co-organised by BIO Deutschland, BioM Cluster Development GmbH and Dechema, dealt with the topic of Germany as a biomanufacturing location in the face of worldwide competition.

Dr Wieland W. Wolf of Rentscher Biotechnologie gave a concise presentation on “Biomanufacturing in Germany: A Secret Success Story”, which was followed by a lively panel discussion chaired by Stefan Schulze-Hausmann of 3sat/ZDF. The panel members were Professor Patrick A. Baeuerle, Micromet AG, Marc Reinhardt, Capgemini Deutschland GmbH und Dr Joachim Kreuzburg, Sartorius AG.
