Industry associations issue joint statement on the ECJ’s ruling on new breeding techniques

BIO Deutschland, together with 16 other industry associations, have expressed concern in a letter to government about the ECJ’s ruling regarding the classification of new mutagenesis techniques. The associations believe the ruling is, in practice, not applicable to plants and products resulting from new breeding techniques. In their view, it is necessary that European GMO legislation be revised so that it reflects scientific principles and takes into account the latest advances in plant breeding.
