Meeting des Governance Boards der European Biosolutions Coalition (EBC)

The head of the Industrial Bioeconomy Working Group, Anja Schwenzfeier, and the Working Group Secretary, Cay Horstmann, took part in the digital kick-off meeting of the members of the EBC Governance Board on January 15. The meeting discussed the EBC's common goals for 2026 (“Must-Win Battles”):

  1. Breakthrough in investment in biosolutions and improvements in market access
  2. Establishment of biosolutions as a strategic economic sector (NACE-Code)
  3. Positioning of the EBC as the leading voice of the biosolutions industry in Europe

Furthermore, the composition of the new Advisory Board was presented, which includes the Fraunhofer Society, the European Council on Foreign Relations (ECFR), the Bio-based Industries Consortium (BIC), and the American Alliance for Biomanufacturing (AAB). One of the core activities this year will be the implementation of the EU Bioeconomy Strategy and the announced second part of the EU Biotech Act. To this end, EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and the responsible EU Commissioners Stéphane Séjourné, Teresa Ribera, Jessika Roswall, Olivér Várheliy, and Ekaterina Zaharieva will be contacted in particular. The second part of the EU Biotech Act is expected to be published in the third quarter of this year.
