Meeting of the International Council of Biotech Associations in San Diego
On June 2, the members of the International Council of Biotech Associations (ICBA) met in the run-up to the world's largest biotech trade fair, the BIO Convention in San Diego. At the meeting, which brings together representatives of biotechnology associations from all over the world, the newly elected chairmen took office. Oliver Schacht, Chairman of the Board of BIO Deutschland and Chairman of the ICBA since 2022, handed over his office to his successor Claire Skentelbery, who is also CEO of the European biotech umbrella organization EuropaBio. Wallace Lin, Secretary General of the Taiwan Bio Industry Organization, was appointed Vice-Chair.
Established in 2014, the ICBA is a federation of national biotechnology industry associations dedicated to promoting public understanding of biotechnology and advocating for policies that support the growth of the innovative biotechnology industry. The ICBA represents the global voice of the industry in international bodies with the aim of promoting continuous innovation in the fields of human health, agriculture, industry and the environment. The association's topics include the fight against antibiotic resistance and patent protection. BIO Deutschland is a founding member of the ICBA.
