Parliamentary evening on the roof of the Reichstag

On 28 September, on the eve of its general assembly, BIO Deutschland invited its member companies and Bundestag members to a parliamentary evening in the Käfer restaurant on the roof of the Reichstag building in Berlin. Over dinner, around 60 members and board members of BIO Deutschland engaged in lively discussions with Bundestag members from the governing coalition and the opposition on the topics of “Sustainable business and the bioeconomy”, “Health and medical supply”, “New foods and climate change”, “Financing innovation” and “Data as a research treasure trove for innovative companies”. In closing statements, policy makers and company representatives highlighted the need to focus on key technologies such as biotechnology and emphasised that, despite the current difficult situation, it is important to support such technologies wherever possible. The next morning, before the start of the general assembly, the board members met individually with Bundestag members who were unable to attend the previous evening’s event for breakfast discussions.
