Raspberry Flavor and Cancer Therapy, Diagnostics, and Peptide Technology – More Members Inducted into the “Biotech Hall of Fame”
Four more companies were inducted into the “Biotech Hall of Fame” in February and March. The platform was launched by BIO Deutschland to highlight successful biotech companies.
ITM Isotope Technologies Munich SE and Insempra GmbH are two successful German biotechnology companies with very different business models. ITM develops and manufactures radiopharmaceutical cancer therapies and diagnostics. Insempra, on the other hand, specializes in the development and production of lipids, flavors, and fragrances. The research and development activities of both companies demonstrate the versatility of biotechnology as a platform technology, which can be applied in medicine, in our food supply, and in sustainable industrial production. ITM is currently in the regulatory approval process with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for an active ingredient against neuroendocrine tumors and aims for a potential market launch in 2026; Insempra, for example, sells products such as raspberry flavoring to the food industry.
With Intavis Peptide Services and altona Diagnostics, the initiative recognizes two companies that also demonstrate the wide range of applications for biotechnology. Intavis specializes in comprehensive services for custom peptide synthesis—from the start of the project to the finished peptide-based drug. The company thereby supports research and development in science and industry worldwide. The peptides are also used in vaccine development and cancer therapy. altona Diagnostics, on the other hand, develops and distributes molecular diagnostic tests, particularly for the detection of infectious diseases such as Ebola, dengue fever, or severe herpesvirus infections. The biotech company was founded in 2007 as a startup and today makes an important contribution to global healthcare.
