Reboot: Industrial Bioeconomy 2025 dialog platform
The Industrial Bioeconomy Dialogue Platform of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWK) has been newly constituted. BIO Deutschland is represented by Cay Horstmann in the IPCEI (Important Projects of Common European Interest) and Claudia Englbrecht in the GMO (Genetically Modified Organisms) working group. The aim in each case is to draw up recommendations for the government in order to fully develop the potential of the industrial bioeconomy in Germany and Europe. The dialogue platform was launched in 2018 under the leadership of then Federal Minister for Economic Affairs, Peter Altmaier. Since its inception, experts from industry, associations (including BIO Deutschland), academia, trade unions, and federal and state ministries have actively contributed to initiatives such as the BMWK’s industrial bioeconomy funding program, featured in the publication Leitmarkt Bioökonomie. They have also supported a market study evaluating the venture capital needs of start-ups, including those in the bioeconomy sector.
