Diplomats from all over the world met in Berlin on 6 May 2014 to learn about innovations by the German healthcare sector in the fight against cancer. The Federal Foreign Office’s invitation to a breakfast event, “Cancer Therapy – Challenges in a Globalised World”, was taken up by diplomats from over 40 countries. The ambassadors’ breakfast was organised by the Health – Made in Germany export initiative at the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy in cooperation with the trade associations for medical technology, the pharmaceutical industry and medical biotechnology. BIO Deutschland, a member of the Working Group on Medical Biotechnology, invited Matthias Schroff, CEO of Mologen AG, to speak at the event. His inspiring talk focused on the problems of global patents and the terms of protection provided by patents.
