Second board meeting of 2020

In early July, BIO Deutschland’s second board meeting of 2020 again took place in the form of a video conference. In addition to the induction of members who had joined since the previous board meeting, items on the agenda included the discussion and coordination of ongoing and future activities of the association in light of the current pandemic situation. The 2020 edition of the German Biotech Days had to be cancelled because of the coronavirus. Following the board meeting, the board members, who were elected in autumn of 2019, convened for a strategy meeting. It was noted that the current situation has also impacted future strategic considerations, and that the extraordinary level of public attention that is currently being given to the achievements and potential of biotechnology could help strengthen biotechnology in Germany in the long term. The focus in the short and medium term is on supporting all member companies, those who are actively conducting research on the coronavirus as well as those who are conducting research and development in other therapeutic areas or in non-medical applications.
