The Council for Technological Sovereignty has a new Publication!
The Council for Technological Sovereignty of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) has published a position paper on materials research (not yet available in English). (www.bmbf.de/SharedDocs/Downloads/DE/2024/positionspapier-materialforschung-rat4ts.pdf?__blob=publicationFile&v=2) Material innovations are an essential component in the further development of key technologies. With its recommendations for action, the Council for Technological Sovereignty provides important impulses for a new, specialized program that focuses on materials research and is tailored to the needs of both Germany and the European Union.
At the end of 2021, the BMBF established the Council for Technological Sovereignty to support its research and innovation policy work. The Council operates independently, consisting of experts from both science and industry, and continuously advises the BMBF on cross-technology foresight and the identification of technology fields with long-term strategic significance. It analyzes the potential of science and industry in various technological fields, as well as the interactions between technologies. Based on this analysis, the Council develops recommendations for the BMBF to sustainably strengthen the most relevant technologies while ensuring the technological sovereignty of Germany and Europe a like. Viola Bronsema is a member of the Council.
