Visit by the Chinese Delegation: Joint Working Group

At the time of the visit to Germany by the Premier of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China, Wen Jiabao, the Chinese-German Working Group on Biotechnology and Medical Technology met on 29 January. Representatives from German and Chinese industry associations and clusters gave presentations about their fields of activity and provided an overview of the market licensing regulations in their respective countries. On the part of BIO Deutschland, Uwe Ahrens from Codon AG had already taken up the position of chairman of the sub-group on Biotechnology and Genetic Technology including Regenerative Medicine and (Molecular) Diagnostics at the previous meeting in Changsha last year. He gave a presentation about the working group’s activities to date and the tasks that it will undertake in the future.

During the fifth meeting of the German-Chinese Forum for Economic and Technological Cooperation, more than 400 German and Chinese company representatives discussed the opportunities for economic cooperation in the fields of energy, environmental technology, medicine, biotechnology, infrastructure and electronic communication. Many contracts were signed in the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology and in the Office of the Federal Chancellor.
