Working Group on Finance and Taxation convenes in Berlin

The BIO Deutschland Working Group on Finance and Taxation met in Berlin during the first week of July. The financial experts discussed with guests from the German Startups Association and the German Private Equity and Venture Capital Association (BVK) the current debate on tax incentives for research and development as well as the measures needed to enhance innovative companies’ access to venture capital in Germany. Talks were also given on the following topics:

• Tax pitfalls in cross-border licensing
• Best practice in partnering and licensing deals
• M&A Study 2017

These led to lively discussions on the topics’ open issues. Another guest from the venture capital fund Coparion gave an overview of the objectives and opportunities of this new financing option, which the German government recently instituted.
