"The European Biotech Week is an important event to increase public perception for biotechnology," says Viola Bronsema, managing director of the biotech sector association BIO Deutschland. "We want to contribute to this promotion with the innovative concept of a YouTube contest to focus the attention on the accomplishments of German biotechnology companies," Bronsema adds. The tagline of the concept "Show us what you've got" allows the participants to draw an entertaining and informative picture of the biotechnology industry. At the same time the companies receive feedback due to the competitive character of the activity.

Biotechnology is one of the key technologies of the 21st century. Biotechnology companies explore the natural properties of microorganisms, animals or plants and are developing them further. They discover new drugs and advanced therapies and they create new methods of industrial production or develop innovative raw material and energy resources.
The European Biotech Week celebrates the 60th anniversary of the discovery of the DNA structure. It is the foundation of modern genetics, which is an important component of the medical research today. The Biotech Week offers a good framework to present the German biotechnology industry with a fresh format being innovative and open-minded.
