Association exhibits biotechnology products at a joint stand

“Sustainability, entrepreneurship and progress – what does biotechnology deliver?” The Deutsche Bundesstiftung Umwelt (DBU) [German Federal Environmental Foundation], BIO Deutschland and this year’s winner of the Biotechnica Award will answer this question at stand E 42 at Biotechnica 2011.

For the first time, BIO Deutschland will exhibit a range of products that are already available on the market, for example from the food, cosmetics, body care and medical sectors.

The primary aim of the exhibition is to show journalists, delegations of politicians from abroad, as well as from the federal and state levels in Germany, and school pupils who visit Biotechnica how biotechnology is used in daily life. Furthermore, the idea is to demonstrate the advantages of this technology in comparison with conventional manufacturing processes and the added value for society in the application of biotech innovations, using concrete examples of products that are already available on the market.

In addition, several projects funded by the DBU will provide examples of the contribution made by biotechnology to protecting the environment and resources. These will particularly include products made by small and medium-sized companies, which have developed and established innovative, environmentally-friendly approaches that serve as role models.
