BIO Deutschland Attends the Orphan Drug Joint Task Force Meeting in Brussels

BIO Deutschland’s partner association, EuropaBio, has set up the Joint Task Force on Rare Diseases and Orphan Medicinal Products (JTF) in cooperation with the organisation, European Biopharmaceutical Enterprises (EBE). The first meeting took place in Brussels on 8 May. A representative from BIO Deutschland attended the meeting.

The JTF deals with the following main topics:

• Coordinated access to medicinal products for people suffering from a rare disease
• Guidance on the drafting of national action plans for improving the care provided to patients with rare diseases
• Legal and regulatory aspects of medicinal products for rare diseases
• The value and reputation of the orphan-drug business model

BIO Deutschland has been active in the field of medicinal products for rare diseases, which are also known as orphan drugs, for a long time. The European associations that organise the JTF welcomed BIO Deutschland’s commitment to this issue. BIO Deutschland plans to continue working in this task force.
